Methodology

• You can come to me for psychiatric and psychotherapeutic counseling. In the intake phase, we discuss together what the treatment options are. Combined treatment (psychiatric AND psychotherapeutic) is only possible in exceptional cases, usually I will refer you to a colleague for either if possible.
• In working with patients and clients, I place the therapeutic relationship first. For me, this forms the basis for a jointly supported diagnosis, treatment, aftercare and, if possible, completion. The body occupies a second important place for me. On the one hand from a medical-somatic perspective, on the other as an important carrier of emotion and meaning. I try to apply scientific evidence from current guidelines and literature in interaction with the clinical reality of the individual patient.
• In psychiatric counseling, I usually see patients once a month. This may be more frequent at the start of treatment or during a crisis. Upon stabilization, the frequency of consultations may decrease to once every 2 to 3 months, in conjunction with follow-up by the primary care physician and/or psychotherapist.In psychotherapy counseling, I see clients once a week and at least every 2 weeks. In the completion phase, however, the frequency can be reduced.
• Consultations typically last 30 to 45 min and psychotherapy sessions 50 min. Associated with this time is also administration time, including maintaining medical records, correspondence with your physician and contacting your other caregivers.
• During periods of limited availability, one-time consultations can be provided, in close consultation with your primary care physician. Treatments can be individual, couple or family-based.

Curriculum Vitae

I obtained my Master of Medicine magna cum laude at KU Leuven in 2018, then specialized in adult psychiatry between 2018 and 2023, also at KU Leuven. I also pursued the postgraduate degree in client-centered psychotherapy at KU Leuven between 2019 and 2023.

Besides this practice, I also work for CGG Brussels (subdivision South) and initiatives sheltered housing “Huize Jan De Wachter” and “De Lariks”.

During my five-year training as a psychiatrist, I was able to gain experience at the following internships:

• St. Camillus Bierbeek (acute care, psychosis care, dual diagnosis psychosis-addiction)
• UPC KULeuven (long-term psychosis care, ECT)
• PSC Sint-Alexius Elsene (psychosis care, day-night hospital, sheltered living, mobile team)
• UPC KULeuven (geriatric psychiatry, mobile team elderly, ECT, memory clinic)
• UPC KULeuven (day hospital addiction, ADHD and ASD in adults)
• CGG Brussels (West and South division: ambulatory care, social psychiatry-psychotherapy)
  
• Queen Astrid Military Hospital (MHKA): military CGG
