Supplementary & private health insurance

Brussels Mental Health Center is a multilingual outpatient practice in Schaerbeek (Plasky and Schuman) and Ixelles (Flagey), close to the European Quarter. Our recognised psychologists, psychotherapists and psychiatrists work with expats, EU and NATO staff and other international professionals, in ten languages including English, French, Dutch, Spanish, Italian and Greek.

Your care should be able to move with you. Follow-up sessions by video are possible within the applicable regulations, so a new posting or a return home does not have to mean leaving your clinician behind. Arriving in Brussels mid-treatment? We look together at how to continue.

If you have private health insurance, you are welcome too. You receive a dated invoice or certificate of care with your clinician’s name, title and RIZIV/INAMI, ComPsy, visa or other licence number, to submit to your insurer yourself. Reimbursement, including for video sessions, is decided by your insurer, so check your policy first. If prior authorisation or a psychiatrist’s prescription is required, we will help you through it.

Psychotherapy Prescription

Some insurers and health insurance schemes reimburse psychotherapy only when it has been prescribed by a psychiatrist. Our psychiatrists can issue this prescription for psychotherapeutic treatment that is already underway at BMHC or is due to start here shortly with one of our psychologists or psychotherapists.
