| Individual psychotherapy | Rates |
|---|---|
| Basic rate | € 90,00 |
| Complementaire verzekering (DKV, JSIS, ...) (tussenkomst van ≥ 50%) | € 125,00 |

✔️ Most “mutuelles” and some complementary insurances (e.g., JSIS and DKV) provide partial reimbursement for a limited number of sessions with the clinical psychologist. Contact these agencies for exact terms and conditions.
✔️Some insurers, including JSIS, only reimburse psychotherapy prescribed by a psychiatrist. A one-time psychiatric evaluation can be arranged here. Check in advance what your insurer requires, such as prior authorisation: the reimbursement decision is ultimately theirs.
✔️ The one-time administrative fee covers the management of your electronic record and, if desired, electronic communication with your general practitioner.
✔️ Please consult the individual provider’s page for any additional fees, e.g. for couple or family therapy, or EMDR.

✔️ In our practice, we use the third-party payer system. This means that you do not have to submit a certificate to your health insurance company. You only pay the co-payment at the end of each consultation.
✔️ Do you have complementary insurance (e.g. JSIS, DKV)? If so, ask for a certificate at the end of your appointment. This will allow you to file a reimbursement claim with your insurer afterwards.
✔️ For patients with increased benefits where no supplements apply, you can find the lates rates on the NIHDI website .
✔️ A standard intake is always required for an initial psychotherapy prescription. For subsequent prescriptions, we ask that a minimum of a 15 min appointment be requested.
Cancellation policy
Your appointment is reserved exclusively for you. If you are unable to attend, please notify us at least 48 hours (two full business days) in advance through the channels listed on the Contact page – this will allow us to offer your spot to someone else who is waiting for care. In the event of a later cancellation or a missed appointment, we will charge a flat fee.
That amount is compensation for lost time, not a fee: no consultation took place, so we cannot issue a certificate for it, and your health insurance provider will not reimburse it. You can, however, receive a receipt.
A missed appointment often has significance within the treatment process. Therefore, feel free to discuss any disputes or misunderstandings during your consultation; addressing these issues is part of the job.
If you fail to show up for your first appointment or cancel it at the last minute, we may not be able to offer you another appointment. During an ongoing treatment plan, treatment may be terminated after two missed or late-canceled appointments; in such cases, we will discuss alternatives and actively refer you to another provider if urgent care is needed.
In cases of force majeure – illness, an accident, or any other event beyond your control -no payment is due. Please let us know within seven days by providing a medical certificate or equivalent proof. If something prevents you from coming in person, a video or phone appointment is always available as an alternative, so your appointment doesn’t have to be canceled.

Why is treatment sometimes so expensive?
We understand that the cost of treatment can be a barrier. Unlike psychiatric hospitalizations, specialized psychotherapeutic and psychiatric care in Belgium is reimbursed only to a very limited extent, which means you often have to pay a significant portion yourself.
The fee covers not only the consultation itself, but also the expertise gained through an average of 9 to 12 years of training, ongoing professional development, administrative work, and consultation with other healthcare providers—all within a professional framework. In this way, guided by a shared commitment, we work toward providing expert care and sustainable improvement.
Is the cost a barrier? Feel free to discuss this with your healthcare provider. Together, we’ll look into alternatives.
If you believe that the JSIS reimbursements are insufficient for mental health care, we strongly recommend that you report this to the EU Ombudsman.
If you can no longer find a psychiatrist or an affordable psychotherapist, please report this to the Federal Service for Public Health.
