Hi, I’m Giorgia – a Belgian-American psychotherapist. I work with individuals, couples and families. I came to psychotherapy not through psychology, but through systems thinking, psychoanalysis and anthropology – the study of people in the everyday settings of their lives. Having lived in Belgium, India, the United States and Greece, I’m especially drawn to how people and relationships find their footing in new places, and how our sense of belonging is shaped by the different worlds we move through.
I work with a broad range of concerns, including:
My clinical practice is grounded in rigorous, evidence-based systemic therapy.
I consult primarily in English, and also offer therapy in Dutch and Greek. If you are looking for therapy in French, I invite you to discover the other members of our team.
The way I work begins with slowing down together, in a safe and confidential space, to look at what’s difficult, without forcing anything or reaching too quickly for an explanation. Sometimes what matters most is simply that there is finally room to think, to feel, and to speak at your own pace. Over time, that can bring greater clarity and make space for change that genuinely fits you.
We can also work with the imagination — envisioning ways to approach a problem or shape therapeutic goals — or experiment with narrative techniques, if that appeals to you. And we’ll keep checking whether a particular way of working is bringing the results you’re after, and adjust if needed.
I first practised in the late 1990s at a Centrum voor Levens- en Gezinsvragen in Brussels, and later in private practice with clients from East Flanders, while living just across the language border in Wallonia. Then came the many years in the United States. In 2026 I returned to Brussels and resumed my clinical practice, which I now combine with ongoing training at the Belgian School for Psychoanalysis.
My background in literature and anthropology means I am unusually attuned to the cultural and linguistic contexts you carry, but we only go there if it’s useful to you.
Some insurers, including JSIS, only reimburse psychotherapy prescribed by a psychiatrist. A one-time psychiatric evaluation can be arranged here. Check in advance what your insurer requires, such as prior authorisation: the reimbursement decision is ultimately theirs.
