For referring professionals

Brussels Mental Health Center is a multilingual, medically led centre for specialised mental healthcare in Brussels, where registered clinical psychologists, psychotherapists and professionals from other disciplines work together under the clinical supervision of a psychiatrist.

When you refer a patient, you refer them to a team that shares a patient record and holds structured internal case consultations. With your patient’s consent, you will receive written feedback. This fosters collaboration that benefits both patient care and the healthcare professionals involved.

To help meet the exceptionally high demand, we also offer one-off psychiatric consultations.

Reliable, specialised mental healthcare, near to your patient

Four pillars of our care pathways

1. Registered healthcare professionals

Our clinical psychologists are registered with the Belgian Commission of Psychologists and hold a ComPsy registration number. Psychotherapy is provided exclusively by practitioners who have completed or are being trained in a recognised psychotherapy training.

2. Wetenschappelijk onderbouwd

3. Medically led

The centre is led by a psychiatrist. Psychiatric and psychotherapeutic care is coordinated within a single team, supported by a shared patient record and structured clinical case consultations. This approach reflects the collaborative care model, in which a psychiatrist provides expert input to the wider care team. According to a Cochrane review, collaborative care may increase the likelihood of clinical improvement by up to 50% for anxiety and 32% for depression compared with usual care.¹

4. Written feedback

With the patient’s written consent, you will receive a report following the initial assessment and upon completion of treatment or whenever there is a significant change in the care pathway, including when care is provided by a psychologist. Effective information sharing between the GP and the treating clinician contributes to better coordinated care and improved treatment outcomes.¹
